Lip Cuteness

Here are the pictures I mentioned yesterday. I know they are bittersweet, but I hope everyone enjoys seeing Andrew free from tubes and gadgets. The disparity between this and his usual assortment of gear really emphasizes how much support he needed. A situation necessitating such support for years (perhaps forever) is really not the kind of life we wanted for him.

On another note, there was a comment asking about Willow...she thanks you for your concern. She's doing much better since our visit to the vet. The steroids had some not-fun side effects, so we quickly discontinued those, but she hasn't shown any signs of pain recently. We've been trying to make her take the doggy stairs instead of jumping up and down from the couch; that's a game that we don't always win, but she's been better about it recently. All in all, she's acting much more like her regular self, and we're happy with her recovery.

  1. Your little guy looks beautiful and so content. It's wonderful to see him free and happily snuggled in your arms. That's where we'll always remember him...with your lips and Danielle's little nose, so much like both of you. What a beautiful little angel.
    Love you both,
    Sue

  2. Dear Jaime and Danielle,

Thank you for sharing these photos. He looks so peaceful and as Sue said, so content and so wonderfully free of tubes, tape and tubes. To know he was safe in his daddy's arms gives us all comfort and joy. It is truly what we will remember. We will not soon forget this very special child and his incredible parents. Love, Cathy Owens

  5. Jaime & Danielle,
Thank you for sharing all the ups and downs throughout the last 5 months. Even though we never saw Drew in person, this blog was enough for us to fall in love with him. We prayed for the day that we might get to meet him but also knew that it might never happen. Just know that we love you and support you in all your decisions. Be assured that he is not in any pain and he is looking down on you with great love. He is a very important part of all of our lives. He is so beautiful and looks so peaceful. We are all blessed to have had a chance to know him. Please continue to post so we know how you two are doing and we hope to see you at Christmas. Many hugs and kisses to you both! Love, Denise
